LRIS Referral Form

 

The Lawyer Referral Service staff strives to respond to requests as promptly as possible.  Given the volume of referral requests and messages, we prioritize those requests with legal issues with which we can assist, so your provided information is important to this.

We apologize for any delay in service and encourage those with upcoming deadlines to utilize any and all available avenues to obtain timely counsel.  Please note that our service cannot provide referrals for pro bono legal work.

The Knoxville Bar Association is happy to assist you in finding a lawyer for your legal issue in the Knoxville Metropolitan Area. 

Our service area includes the greater Knoxville area of Knox, Anderson, Blount, Grainger, Jefferson, Loudon, Roane, Sevier, and Union Counties. If you need an attorney outside of the greater Knoxville area, you should search online for the type of attorney needed.  To verify an attorney's licensure, visit the Board of Professional Responsibility website.   

NOTE:  Our service does NOT provide referrals to reduced-fee or pro bono attorneys.  If you need a reduced fee or pro bono attorney, please contact Legal Aid of East Tennessee.

Notice:  The LRIS is a service of the Knoxville Bar Association (KBA). The LRIS is not a law firm and does not represent clients in any capacity. The LRIS is not providing you any legal advice and you do not have an attorney-client relationship with the LRIS. The KBA makes no warranties or representations concerning a lawyer’s ability to handle a caller’s particular legal matter.  The decision to employ a lawyer is solely that of the caller, subject to the lawyer’s willingness to accept employment.  The LRIS refers clients to licensed and experienced attorneys who have registered to receive referrals in specific areas of law and who are in good standing with the Tennessee Supreme Court.  To cover the operating expenses of the LRIS, attorneys pay an administrative fee and 15% of the fees they earn. LRIS Policy prohibits the attorney from passing along the costs of the LRIS to the client.

We do our best to respond to requests promptly.  Please allow at least 2 business days for a reply.  

Client Referral

After submitting the referral, our staff will complete the referral by email, or will contact you by email or phone if additional information is needed to complete your request.  Normally this will be no later than the end of the next business day.  You should receive an email confirmation once you submit the form.  If you have any questions or do not receive the confirmation email, please contact us by phone at (865)522-7501 or by email at lris@knoxbar.org.

If you aren't certain what type of case you have, please select "Administrative" and our trained staff will select the correct case type for your situation.  Please note:  We have participating attorneys for most legal areas of practice; however, we may not always have attorneys available to refer for less common areas of practice.

1. To define the type of case, please select the "Primary Panel" then "Sub-Panel" that most closely matches your legal issue.

For example, if you are needing a lawyer to help you with a divorce and your spouse is contesting the divorce, you would select "Domestic" for the primary panel then "Divorce" for the sub-panel. If you aren't certain what type of case you have, please select "Administrative" and our trained staff will select the correct case type for your situation.

2.  After submitting, you will be contacted by an administrator with possible lawyer referrals.

PLEASE NOTE:  Medical Malpractice is NOT a part of our Personal Injury Panel.  We do not currently have anyone enrolled in the service who evaluates plaintiff medical malpractice/healthcare negligence type injuries.
