Long a mainstay for resolving labor disputes, arbitration is now routinely used to resolve legal disputes in a myriad of legal practice areas including  employment, construction, commercial, financial, insurance,
consumer rights, health care, intellectual property, governmental programs and more.  Our experienced panel will provide the foundations for successful dispute resolution through arbitration.  They will walk you through the process from drafting an effective arbitration clause to sharing their thoughts on preparation for and  participation in an arbitration to achieve a successful result.

Alternative Dispute Resolution Section

The ADR Section meetings will be held at the law office of Butler, Vines & Babb (2701 Kingston Pike) from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. KBA Members not wishing to receive CLE credit may attend the program at no charge (handout materials not included). A reservation is required in advance of the program. $5 additional the day of the program.  The cost is $20 for KBA members & $30 for non-KBA members.
The cost includes one hour of CLE credit and the handout materials. 

 

Unless noted otherwise, these programs have been approved for one hour general CLE credit through the CLE Commission and one hour of general mediation issues credit (CME credit) through the Administrative Office of the Courts.

Forensic Anthropology for Lawyers - Dr. Bill Bass
Forensic Evidence, DNA & "New" Science - Stephen R. Johnson

 

Dr. Bill Bass, founder of the University of Tennessee's Forensic Anthropology Facility and a professor emeritus of anthropology, will be available to sign copies of his books. The novel series relies on Bass's extensive experience to integrate real world elements and experiences into the story.
 

 

 

 

 

Stephen Ross Johnson practices with the Knoxville firm of Ritchie, Dillard & Davies where his civil and criminal practice is concentrated in federal and state courts in both criminal and civil law.  Mr. Johnson has published articles and taught other lawyers on the topics of wiretapping, ethics, federal grand jury investigations, the death penalty, and other criminal law issues. He is a graduate of the National Criminal Defense College at Mercer Law School. He received his JD with honors from the U.T. College of Law.
